Ubuntu Freezing Error
More than 1 month since I’d known and used Ubuntu. Such a great Windows alternative: smoothly running, stable system, glossy graphic and esp. great supportive community. Only one problem that made me really annoyed and I had got back to Windows to use Bill’s product. The error is: When shutting down, Logging off, Restarting… Ubuntu freezes with no reason, the screen gets black and blank, keyboard stuck and even Ctrl-Alt-BackSpace does not work.
Searching for weeks on the Internet, lots of people have have the same problem, almost relating to the graphic card driver’s compatibility. But that’s not my case. Finally I realized that my Ubuntu had problems with Compiz, the program which makes Ubuntu glossy and touchy. I try disabling the Visual Effects and things change. Error’s gone and Ubuntu works smoothly. Gosh
This article is for those who’s Ubuntu’s fan and have this kickass error.
Another thing I want to post here is the Vietnamese input. I first used x-Unikey to type Vietnamese Unicode in Ubuntu. Everything was ok except in OpenOffice applcations. The alternative’s xvnkb 3.0. A great program indeed but you have to fix some crashes with the system. Go to Terminal and….
sudo apt-get remove scim
This stepis for removing the Scim which is a component of Ubuntu supporting multi language platform.Xvnkb crashes with this component so we have to wipe it out. Now you can enjoy the true Unicode in Ubuntu.
